Say "Yes" to All Writing Opportunities

Any time an editor sends you an opportunity to write and get published, say yes. It doesn't matter if it's a freebie--unless you already have 100,000 FaceBook friends and aren't looking to market your writing skills.

Take what happened to me recently. The editor of the Nazarene Prime Time Connection newsletter emailed me. "I'm focusing on the importance of people writing or recording their life stories for future generations. Are you opoen to participating using this subject?

Are you kidding? Of course I want to participate.

"Gordon and you will be featured in an interview, Q and A format. Suggested questions are below. Words allotment is 350; need a photo of you two to accompany the article.

I had all the important info at hand: word count, due date, topic, and questions. I let ideas simmer a couple of days, then wrote the article in an hour. It should appear in the Fall issue of Prime Time Connection.

About that photo. I searched through my picture files and couldn't find a single picture that made us look ten years younger. As least we're still breathing!
